Stranger
While the stranger in front of her was screaming at her, Haebyeol’s thoughts were still on the barnacles and the nymph that tried to attack her. She was so close to falling dead, in some ways she was still in shock but in another she was still amazed at how quickly she could’ve just dropped dead in one second.
“What were you thinking?!” the stranger asked grabbing Haebyeol’s attention from her thoughts.
Her eyes turned to the stranger in front of her. Haebyeol wasn’t sure how to respond to him but she was still overwhelmed by the whole experience and she wasn’t going to show any weakness in front of a stranger. She stared at his tall figure, his eyes were dark and he had his bow over one shoulder. His hand was tugging on to her’s. Haebyeol pulled her hand away from his grip. His grip was strong, he must be really mad. She rubbed her arm and glared at him, his stare was cold and relentless.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think I was begging for a rescue,” she snapped at him not showing any signs of weakness.
“We are at war”, Sungjoon replied. He turned back, looking at the scene of what just happened. “There are evil much worse than you could ever imagine and certainly much worse than this”, Sungjoon said pointing at the scene. He turned back to the soldier and walked closer. “We have to be prepared. It is our duty to rid this land of every notion of evil. Do not let your guard down soldier”, he said.
“Remember the destruction of Yggdra”, he said in a husky voice as if blaming himself, covering his face. “Be careful next time”, he said after realizing he was being a bit harsh. He offered his hand for a hand shake. “I’m Sungjoon”.
